If you're a woman aged over 35, there's a good likelihood you'll have fibroids in your uterus. While these tumours are rarely harmful, they can make life miserable for some women who experience heavy periods, clotting, anaemia and pressure on their organs. Hysterectomy was the main treatment for troublesome fibroids, but there are new, less invasive ways of treating them.
